Moringa Powder Benefits for Men

Moringa is a plant that has a long history of nutritional and medicinal uses, going back thousands of years. While the pods of the plant are used as food in Africa and India, their medicinal properties are used the world over.

While we'll be examining the direct potential benefits for men, we'll also look at the wide range of uses that Moringa has for all people. With it's potent nutrition, exceptional medicinal uses and a few other non-nutritive applications, this is a plant powder you'll want to have in your pantry.

What is Moringa Oleifera?

The Moringa is a fast-growing tree native to Africa, and while it's considered an invasive species, it's so useful that people living near it don't mind. The pods are used as food, as are the leaves, and the seeds themselves are pressed into a potent oil, useful as food or in cosmetics.

Moringa is prized because of its nutritional density in a region where healthy food can be difficult to cultivate. Since it grows so quickly and so widespread, harvests are abundant, which has led to its worldwide sale as a supplement.

General Benefits of Moringa Powder That Everyone Can Enjoy

The powdered form of Moringa oleifera (equivalent to 2 cups of fresh leaves) is packed with vital nutrients, including:

  • Vitamin B6 - 20% of your recommended daily allowance
  • Vitamin C - 12% of your RDA
  • Protein
  • Iron - Roughly 10% of your RDA
  • Vitamin B2
  • Vitamin A
  • Magnesium

Additionally, the leaves are packed with phytonutrients in the form of antioxidant compounds, which protect the body from oxidative damage. Specifically, the antioxidants in Moringa powder are:

  • Quercetin - this compound reduces blood pressure and reduces the risk for stroke in at-risk patients.
  • Beta-carotene - another heart-protective compound, it improves the elasticity of blood vessels
  • Chlorogenic acid - this antioxidant also helps balance blood sugar and reduce blood pressure

In general, as a supplement to an already healthy diet composed of whole foods, Moringa powder can fill in any nutritional gaps.

Cosmetic Uses

The oil we mentioned before that is pressed from Moringa seeds is a fantastic base for cosmetics and skin care products. The oleic acid present in Moringa oil works as an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory agent, which tightens and firms the skin. It can also be used to treat wounds and prevent them from becoming infected.

Mixing 5-10 drops of essential Moringa oil into 2 cups of a carrier oil creates a hydrating solution for hair and skin. You might want to make sure that the carrier oil is one known for hydration, like avocado oil, and it's also good to augment with another 5-10 drops of a complementary essential oil, like lavender. This can be applied to hair as a type of leave-in conditioning treatment.

The antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties of the oil itself can also be used as a topical acne treatment. Finally, it's useful for simple, everyday face cleansing and make-up removal.

Benefits of Moringa Powder for Men

Moringa's Effect on Sexual Performance

Some research shows that Moringa supplementation can aid with sexual performance in men with erectile dysfunction. In particular, the anti-oxidant effects provide a co-benefit to the primary benefit of reducing ED symptoms. This benefit seems to be most potent in groups who suffer from high amounts of stress and erectile dysfunction.

Moringa's Effect on the Heart

There is also a high degree of anti-oxidant benefit for the heart, which we've already discussed, but since more men die of heart disease, this can be especially important for males.

Moringa's Effect on Testosterone Production

Finally, vitamin C and D are both precursors and essential for testosterone production. Particularly in older men for whom testosterone might be declining, getting enough of both of these vitamins is critical, not just for sexual health but also for healthy bodies in general.

Moringa's Effect on the Prostate

The primary concern for men in particular is overdosing on the supplement. Though "overdosing" doesn't mean the same thing as if you were taking a prescription, too high of a dose can cause toxicity that damages the prostate. Too much of this for too long (3x the recommended dosage or more) can lead to an increased risk of prostate cancer. As long as you don't try to force the benefits by taking too much, however, you should be fine.

Can Moringa Powder cure impotence?

While Moringa powder by itself won't "cure" impotence, it can be used in addition to a healthy diet and weight loss routine to reduce symptoms. The fact is for most men, impotence is due to smoking, dietary habits and inactivity causing narrowed blood vessels. By losing weight, being compliant with diabetes treatment, supplementing with Moringa and exercising, ED can be improved dramatically.

How to incorporate Moringa into your diet

The great thing about Moringa powder is that it's incredibly easy to sneak into your diet without any disruption. Because you can use a powdered Moringa supplement as an additive to food and drinks, you can tailor the amount of additional nutrition you get each time you use it.

For instance, you can add a serving of Moringa powder to your morning tea. Simply prepare your tea and pour it over the Moringa powder, mixing it well. It's important that you do NOT boil the Moringa powder in with your tea kettle; mix them separately to maintain the nutritional benefits.

Another one of the many fantastic health-boosting recipes is the all-star greens Moringa smoothie:

  • 1-2 teaspoons of Zen Principle® Moringa powder
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 apple
  • 1 cucumber
  • A handful of spinach
  • A dash of cinnamon

Directions:

Blend all ingredients except the Moringa powder, which you'll mix in when everything else is well-blended. This is a tasty, healthy way to start your day and provides an abundance of nutrition without fat or empty calories.

You can add Moringa to just about any food, but it must be added before serving. Heat can destroy some of the fragile healthy compounds in the supplement, so it's not great to actually cook with.

Finding high quality Moringa Powder

The most critical aspect of finding a quality supplement is ensuring that it's organic. Because of the sheer amount of Moringa produced every year, there's little reason for you to need to buy anything but organic powder, but there are still companies selling non-organic products.

The reason it's important to make sure your supplements - not just Moringa - are organic is because if they're not, there could be potentially anything mixed in with them, often as a filler. Additionally, non-organic plant supplements can be grown on land that's polluted with heavy metals or pesticides, which stay in the plant and get transferred to you.

Zen Principle Organic Moringa Powder is sourced only from local farms in India, where the majority of the world's Moringa is cultivated. These farms are certified organic and follow best manufacturing protocols to ensure a quality product.

Available powdered or in capsule form, Zen Principle is your first step into optimizing your health by incorporating the incredible properties of the Moringa oleifera plant.

Hi Laurence,

Yes, it can be taken with our beetroot powder.

Moringa is an all natural plant-based food supplement and usually safe for most people to try. It’s a mild laxative, so we recommend starting with half a teaspoon per day to let your body adjust. You can then gradually increase the amount.

I hope this helps.
